ABOUT US

INTRODUCTION

Sometimes called by locals as the "Eighth Wonder of the World", the Ifugao Rice Terraces begin at the base of the mountain range and extend several thousand feet upwards. Two of the terrace clusters in Banaue, namely Bangaan and Batad, are part of the UNESCO World Heritage inscription. It is said that their length, if put end to end, would encircle half of the globe. Built 2,000 years ago, the rice terraces manifest the engineering skill and ingenuity of the sturdy Ifugaos. They are irrigated by means of mountain streams and springs that have been tapped and channeled into canals that run downhill through the rice terraces.

A FEW ADVICE FOR AN HASSLE-FREE EXPERIENCE

HOW TO BOOK A TREK?

It is as easy as 1,2,3! No online form needs to be filled, watch our trekking listing and directly message / email us to make a reservation. Prefer text messages over email, Internet signal is pretty low and unstable in the mountains.

HOW TO GET TO BANAUE?

We can help you arrange your transportation to Banaue from Manila. You can travel by public buses with Ohayami Bus company or we can book a private mini van with driver for you. A normal trip takes around 8-9 hours.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO TREK?

There is no best time to visit the rice terraces. If you want to see the rice terraces at his greenest, come from April to May or October to November (for Batad) and from June to July (for Banaue). Come in June (Batad) and August(Banaue) to appreciate the golden color of the terraces due to harvest time.

WHAT TO BRING?

Though you can feel the tropical climate almost everywhere in the Philippines, Banaue and its region are best known for fresh temperatures (especially by night). Bring a light pull-over but do not overlook sun cream, the sun is powerful during daytime!
